The herbs and spices we carry at Island Tea are of very high quality. They are fresh, fragrant and flavorful.

Many herbs are consumed for their purported medicinal properties. If you consume herbal teas for medicinal reasons, we strongly advise consulting with your health care provider.

Please note:  Each tea has a drop down menu allowing you to choose the package size desired.  Click on the small blue box to view available options.

Lavender - Tibet (Organic)
Our delightful field grown lavender comes from Eastern Tibet.  Archaeology indicates Tibetans have used lavender for its restorative and spiritually uplifting qualities for at least a thousand years.  Lavender is used in meditative ceremonies at many temples and shrines in Tibet and is one of the Dalai Lama's favorite herbs.   To prepare as a hot tea, use 1 teaspoon per cup, add boiling water and steep 3 to 7 minutes.  For iced tea, prepare a double to triple strength infusion and pour over ice.   Use in shortbread or scones, or add to many other teas and herbal blends for an intriguing flavor twist.  (1 ounce of lavender buds = about 1 cup)

Peppermint (Organic)
The most flavorful peppermint come from the Pacific Northwest and this particular peppermint, which hails from our home state of Washington is superb!  Excellent and soothing as a hot tea, and delightfully cooling over ice.  Can be added to other green and black teas to lighten and brighten the flavor.  When added to Gunpowder Greens you'll have a lovely Moroccan Mint style tea.  Use one teaspoon per cup for hot tea, or 2 teaspoons for iced.  Add boiling water and steep for 3 to 7 minutes.  Sweeten if desired.

(Please note: Regarding the recently announced recall of Organic Peppermint teas possibly tainted with Salmonella, we have checked with our supplier and our Organic Peppermint is NOT on the recall list.)

Spearmint (Organic)

Refreshing, aromatic spearmint is our mint tea of choice. It is a bit milder and smoother than peppermint. Spearmint infusion cleanses the pallate and soothes the stomach. It is a gentle, caffeine-free, pick-me-up beverage for anytime of day, and is lovely for after dinner or before bed enjoyment. Delicious hot or iced. Experiment with adding a pinch to other teas to add an interesting flavor note. To prepare, we recommend 1 teaspoon per cup for hot tea, or 2 teaspoons for iced. Add boiling water and steep for 3 to 7 minutes depending on how strong you like it. Sweeten if desired.
